- The thickness table gives 2.0–2.5 mm / 4–6.5 oz with a ±0.2 mm tolerance; the feature line states 2.5–3.8 mm / 6.25–9.5 oz. The two thickness claims in the source conflict with each other.
- Pre-cut in 1/3/5 square-foot pieces; the source gives 1 square foot ≈ 900 cm². Free skiving can be requested at order time, down to a minimum final thickness of 1.0 mm.
- The face is smooth, the back has a soft napped feel; a dense and elastic material. Drum tumbling creates an uneven lychee texture without mechanical embossing, with grain varying according to the fiber density of each section. Natural porosity/sheen; with use, the vegetable tanning darkens the color, creating a vintage patina.
- Neck: natural coarse wrinkles, suited to a rugged style; back: dense/compressed fiber with even marking; belly: soft, elastic, coarse-grained, suited for lining; rump: dense, usually smooth-grained/mark-free.
- For stamping, carving, stitching, handcrafting, workshop and craft projects. Since the surface is not later hidden with repair or coating, scars, scratches, vein marks, wrinkles, color variation and growth lines may occur. Lighting/screen may also show the color differently.
