SEITZ

History

SEITZ was founded in Frankfurt in 1885 by Heinrich Seitz. He had previously worked with aniline dyes at Bayer's Elberfeld plant. He started his own business selling textile dyes. In 1887, his brother Fritz also joined the company. Near the end of the century, exports to other European countries began. In 1906, the first branch opened in Berlin. In 1910, the company moved to its own site in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen.

In 1944 the company and its stock were destroyed in an air raid. Over the following five years, production was rebuilt. After the war, demand for textile redyeing expanded the business. In the 1960s–1970s, declining demand for dyeing drove a change in direction. The company developed dry-cleaning chemicals. Specialized cleaners for leather and carpets were also added to the range. Thus, a shift occurred from the dyeing business to professional care chemistry.

In 1974, Kriftel was chosen as the site for R&D and production. The company's current corporate address is also listed there. In 1998, a foreign branch opened in Tampa, USA. Today's range covers textile washing, stain removal and other cleaning applications. Dosing and application services complement the chemical products. The corporate site lists laundry, hospital and catering sectors among its users. Regional online store addresses should not be confused with the German headquarters address.
