History
Diversey marked its centennial in 2023. Solenis's official timeline lists this anniversary separately. Over time the company has combined professional cleaning and hygiene products with broad services. Alongside chemicals, it offers floor-cleaning machines, tools and technology services. Food safety, water and energy use are also part of its operations. Textile washing is one of the directions within this broad professional cleaning field.
In September 2017, Bain Capital acquired Diversey from Sealed Air. The acquisition covered chemical products and related equipment businesses. Subsequent expansion increased product and service capabilities across various countries. In January 2022, the acquisition of the UK-based distributor Shorrock Trichem was completed. The official announcement lists local sales and service capabilities among the goals of this transaction. The distributor's supply infrastructure was also part of that expansion.
On July 5, 2023, Solenis completed its acquisition of Diversey. The announcement stated the deal's enterprise value at approximately 4.6 billion USD. This figure is not Diversey's annual revenue. The merger linked water technologies with cleaning and hygiene solutions. Diversey thus became part of Solenis's product and service portfolio. The new group's employee and plant figures pertain to the entire combined business. Presenting them separately as Diversey's own figures would not be accurate.
