AVERY DENNISON

History

Avery Dennison's history traces back to Stan Avery's work started in Los Angeles in 1935. Early operations involved self-adhesive labels. The company's other historical branch is Dennison Manufacturing. These two businesses merged in 1990 to form the Avery Dennison name. Therefore, the company's founding roots and the history of its current name differ. Fastener Solutions is a specialized product line within that broader business.

The official chronology of fastening products marks the introduction of the Swiftach system in 1964. The system was designed for attaching tags to garments. In 1965, the Secur-A-Tach and Secur-A-Tie ranges were added. In 1972, the Buttoneer product was introduced. In 1982, the System 1000 hand tool was launched. Development of this line centers on attaching tags and other elements to the product.

In 1989 a plastic fastening system for delicate fabrics was added to the range. In 1993 the ST9000 tool was introduced. In 2002 the MicroTach system was put into use. Its purpose is to join items at close range and allow easy separation. In 2003 MicroPin created an alternative to pin use in packaged shirts. The NovaX profile focuses mainly on these textile and packaging products. These do not cover the company's entire operations.
