Features
- Basic awl set: 1 hand stitching awl, 1 titanium-coated gold needle, 5 chrome-coated needles, 1 stainless steel wrench, 3 black/white/brown waxed threads, and 1 cross-head screwdriver.
- Set A adds 25-color 0.35 mm thread to the basic set, B—25-color 0.45 mm, C—25-color 0.55 mm, D—25-color 0.65 mm thread.
- Set E adds 10 large gold titanium-coated needles to the basic set, F adds 10 small silver chrome-coated needles. The needle coating is for rust resistance.
- The handle is shaped to reduce fatigue during long work. For saddlery, bookbinding, upholstery repair and other leather stitching. Minor shipping marks on the beech wood are possible and aren't considered to impair function.
- The size card gives the awl without needle as 138×32 mm, while another parameter chart gives a length of 132 mm. The large needle diameter is 2 mm, the fine needle 1.5 mm; thicker than a regular sewing needle, with an awl-like piercing structure.
- Separate needle options come as 10 gold, 10 silver, or a 20-piece set with 10 of each. The source presents the needles as imported from Germany, with DOTEC shown in the compatibility chart.
- Assembly: loosen the center screw and insert the bobbin thread, then tighten; loosen the needle holder with the small wrench, fasten the needle, and thread it through the needle eye. Keep enough free thread while stitching; after the first hole, pass the thread through the loop that forms and pull the other end tight while withdrawing the needle — this produces a machine-type lock stitch.
- For a wave stitch, the needle head's direction must match the hole and stay the same for every stitch. The thread channel and hidden bobbin are aimed at reducing snagging; the chart states the bobbin capacity is doubled, without giving a length figure. Thick canvas, heavy leather, footwear and book covers are also among the applications.
