Basic hole punch sets made of heat-treated carbon steel; feature a black coating and a hand-sharpened edge.
Features

- Size markings and a wide waste-exit channel; for a clean oval cut in leather, belts and straps, interlining, apparel, rubber and other soft materials. For higher finishing requirements, the manufacturer shows a separate senior series.
- Hold perpendicular to the leather and strike lightly first, then continue to a 0.5–1 mm penetration. Cutting areas larger than 5×10 mm may need extra strikes. Small heads have thinner edges, while large heads are thicker for strength; the latter require more force or 2–3 extra strikes.
- To reduce rebound, a solid wooden table or marble slab thicker than 4 cm is shown, with a punching mat on top. Don't place an elastic layer like felt or sheepskin under the mat; hold the hammer close to the head.
- To sharpen, work along the edge in the same direction with 600 or 800 grit sandpaper, then repeat on a sanding board. Sharpening the large head before first use is recommended. A 1–2 mm hand-measurement variance is possible.
- Wipe off the protective oil before first use; re-oil for storage and keep in a dry, ventilated place.
- The graphic shows punching a 5 mm thick top-grain cowhide sample. Wide waste-exit channel, sharp edge and clear size marking; struck vertically and steadily on the mat.
