WUTA Italian Vachetta Vegetable-Tanned Cowhide
Full-grain Vachetta cowhide
Brand: WUTA
Italian vegetable-tanned natural full-grain cowhide; a dense and flexible material.

Features
- Natural, black, coffee and brown; 1/3/5 square-foot cuts. Thickness 2.0–2.5 mm / about 4–6.5 oz, ±0.2 mm variance. 1 piece per package, multiple orders shipped in one package.
- A natural vegetable-tan smell; the source states no extra oiling/care is needed, and it smooths and darkens with use/friction, gaining shine. Free splitting to at least a 1.0 mm final thickness with a note at order time.
- The source claims a historical origin — sourcing from a century-old traditional Florence tannery and refinement of the Vachetta process by the person credited with it, producing a lighter, versatile, durable material; this history is the manufacturer's own account.
- A whole hide is about 20–30 square feet; a sample split is 3+3+5+5+5+5=26. Cutting is at 90° to the spine, with a length/width ratio of at most 3:1 — e.g. for a 3 sq-ft piece, if the long side is 90 cm, the short side is at least 30 cm.
- 3/5 square-foot pieces are cut at random from the neck/shoulder, croup, back and belly; no specific section is selected. The manufacturer claims at least 65% overall usable yield and evaluation per Italian LWG-certified leather group inspection standards; it notes yield is partly subjective with a natural material.
- For area, the piece is flattened, and protrusions and gaps are offset against each other to form an equivalent rectangle, with area as length × width. The source gives 1 square foot ≈ 900 cm², with the example 91 × 49.5 / 900 ≈ 5 square feet.
- The tolerance line's encoding is corrupted: length/width shows "1?2 cm", area "5?8%" with a "¡À" mark; the exact interval isn't fully clear. The source states returns aren't accepted for normal size variance.
- Photos show an initial thickness of 2.0–2.5 mm and free splitting to 1.0/1.5/2.0 mm. The initial back is relatively rough, while the split surface is more even and flatter. The 0.5 mm figure shown in the general thickness comparison is not taken as a separate sale option.
- The manufacturer highlights a very fine surface finish, tiny pores, dense elastic fibers, and a relatively firm, oily structure; the edge shows a rounded, raised look at the decorative stamped line. The surface flattening back out after being squeezed and released is the manufacturer's own demonstration.
- Color photos show Natural, Black, Coffee and Brown. For irregular piece area, the source calculates 1/3/5 square feet as roughly 900/2700/4500 cm²; a small-cut sample is marked 33.5×27 cm. These are not a guarantee of fixed width/length for every piece.
- The hide map shows more visible wrinkles and grain at the neck, looser fiber and more stretch marks at the belly, and a smoother surface with higher usable yield at the croup; leg and belly sections may fall within the cutting strips.
- The area-calculation photo's sample rectangle is 91×45.9 cm, while the main text gives 91×49.5 cm; this source discrepancy is kept as is. The origin document photo shows number D/0258846 and an EU–Italy origin note. The exporter is partly obscured, and the visible frame's goods description and quantity fields are unfilled; the photo doesn't separately confirm a quality certificate.
