A choice of 30 ml Tan-Kote resin finish or Carnauba Creme protective wax.
Features
- 1 piece of 30 ml liquid in the selected type per package; the inner cap reduces leakage. Liquid/blade shipments may take longer than ordinary goods due to special handling and safety checks.
- Type A Tan-Kote: a resin-based finish used by belt/saddle makers, applied with a sponge or by spraying. Moisture resistant, a soft deep look, and light water protection.
- Tan-Kote is used as a base under Antique Finish, over dye, and on natural leather; the leather can be cleaned/oiled after this treatment. Antique Finish can be thinned and tinted with any water-based dye.
- Type B Carnauba Creme: an elastic protective wax that buffs to a high shine; resists fingerprints and friction marks. Do not let it freeze, and do not use on suede.
- The new packaging for Carnauba Creme states it can freeze and become ineffective below 5°C. The image describes it as a plant-oil-based care product that bonds with the leather fibers to form a waxy protective layer and a polished shine.
- The Carnauba application image on the page gives an example under the name Fiebing's Carnauba Cream: dyed and patterned leather is first fully dried, then buffed with sheepskin; a generous amount of cream is taken onto a clean soft white cloth or sheepskin. The wool makes it easier to reach the pattern grooves.
- The cream is applied evenly to the whole surface, including carved edges and grooves; no excess should remain built up in the cuts. It may look dull/blotchy at first but dries clear and smooth. Drying time depends on the environment; the image recommends leaving it overnight to dry fully, then buffing with new clean dry wool or a soft cloth to the desired shine.
