Leather Masking Fluid is a water-based, fast-drying, elastic masking product that protects stitching thread from dye overspray during dyeing.
Features
- To preserve the color and texture of the thread, especially when dyeing leather with contrast stitching; also helps clean the thread when the mask is removed.
- Test each component on a small, inconspicuous area before full application.
- Using the nozzle bottle, apply a layer that covers only the thread, slightly raised and thick enough. If it spills onto the leather, gather it back toward the center of the thread from the edges with a spatula.
- A layer that is too thin can soak into the thread and become hard to remove later. To make masking matted old thread easier, the source recommends first trimming the thread's fibers or lightly ironing it with a lighter.
- After dyeing, remove the dried mask by rolling it off with your finger; the source states it comes off without changing color or leaving marks.
