Leather Surface Repair is a water-based, flowable polyurethane repair compound that fills microcracks too shallow for Light Filler and reinforces aged leather.
Features
- Designed to preserve texture; when dry it forms a mostly transparent, flexible, sandable layer that increases resistance to mechanical and thermal stress.
- For professional restoration of leather on cars, furniture, footwear, clothing and accessories.
- Test every formula on a small, inconspicuous area before full application.
- Fill micro-cracks with a sponge, spatula or brush, then dry for a few minutes with a hairdryer. Since it shrinks only slightly, apply several thin coats and dry each one well. Up to 10% Leather Colourant can be added to tint it.
- For subsequent painting, shake and mix the dye; spray in thin, even coats. Thinning with distilled water is permitted; use a 0.5–1.2 mm nozzle, 1.1–8 bar pressure depending on the equipment, compressed air free of water and oil, and a 190-micron paint filter. Sponge, brush and roller application are possible for the base coat, artwork and small local touch-ups.
- After dyeing, protect with Leather Top Coat, adding Cross Linker X at 5–10% of the total volume; a matte, semi-matte or glossy finish can be chosen. Wash tools with water, and with Leather Prep if needed.
- Compatible additives: Leather Slip Additive, Leather Non-Slip/Wax-Effect Additive, Leather X-GUARD Additive, Leather Casein Additive and Leather Thickening Agent.
- Apply the final coat thinly and evenly with an airbrush/spray gun after repair and dyeing; a thick coat can alter the colour and stiffen the leather.
- Drying depends on temperature and humidity: careful use is possible after 2–3 hours, with full cure in 8–12 hours. Do not apply cleaning or care products during the first week.
