Leather Dye Fixative / Dye Pro Fixative is designed to bond Leather Dye Pro aniline dye to the leather fibers, reduce wash-off, and preserve color saturation.
Features
- Suitable for aniline, vegetable-tanned leather, suede, nubuck and handcrafted leather items. Not used together with Leather Colourant, which forms a polyurethane coating.
- The formula is designed to combine with the dye to form long, water-insoluble molecules, reducing sensitivity to water.
- Test every formula on a small, inconspicuous area before full application.
- Shake the container and apply evenly to the clean, prepared surface immediately after the Leather Dye Pro dye, while the leather is still wet. An airbrush/spray gun is recommended, though an application sponge is also possible; bonding may be weaker on dry leather.
- Additional protection can then be applied with Leather Protection Cream, Leather Lotion or Leather Top Coat, as appropriate for the material.
- Compatible additives: Leather Slip Additive, Leather Non-Slip/Wax-Effect Additive, Leather X-GUARD Additive, Leather Casein Additive and Leather Thickening Agent.
- Apply the final coat thinly and evenly with an airbrush/spray gun after repair and dyeing; a thick coat can alter the colour and stiffen the leather.
- Drying depends on temperature and humidity: careful use is possible after 2–3 hours, with full cure in 8–12 hours. Do not apply cleaning or care products during the first week.
