Alternative-solvent machines are not inexpensive, due to the additional safety equipment they require. For this reason Italclean has introduced a line without a distiller. The Drytech NS is designed for small dry-cleaning operations: it is compact in size and simple to operate. The solvent is purified through a rotating nylon filter, a large activated-carbon cartridge filter, and a bag decanter, removing moisture, odor, and dirt particles. Because there is no distiller, electricity consumption is reduced by 50% and water consumption by 60–70%.
