Hobart FD4 series commercial food waste disposers flush food scraps to the drain with a stream of cold water: waste is pushed into the inlet, the cold water is turned on, and the unit is started with a switch. The series includes models ranging from 1/2 HP to 5 HP: FD4/50, FD4/75, FD4/125, FD4/150, FD4/200, FD4/300, and FD4/500. A continuous-duty motor, manual-reset thermal overload protection, and dual-direction grinding are standard.

- Shredding in both directions (direction alternates with control groups no. 5 and 6)
- Vinyl isolation ring reduces metal-to-metal contact, vibration, and noise
- FD4/50–125: Ni-Resist impeller (6-3/16"), center breaker bar, replaceable and reversible hardened stainless steel cutter blocks; shredder ring with 4 primary breaker bars and 42 secondary-stage teeth
- FD4/150–300: 8" hardened cast iron impeller; FD4/500: 10-5/8" hardened alloy steel impeller
- All models mount to 7" inside-diameter cones; motor is easily removed for service
