- Apply the adhesive thinly and sparingly, using a small brush in narrow recesses. Wait for it to dry slightly and then join the tear edges, or press a suitably cut fabric backing into place with light pressure. Use especially little product on tears, surface cuts and frayed wear areas.
- For larger tears/holes, a fabric backing is essential: cut it larger than the damaged area, mark its center with a marker/sticker and fix it with a needle, spread the edges smoothly under the leather, glue and let dry.
- The same back-fabric, minimal-adhesive, fixing and full-drying method is also used on cuts, tears and frayed areas.
- On thin leather, use especially little adhesive; it can seep through and leave a dark mark on the front. Light pressure and adequate drying improve the bond.
- The glued repair is aimed at retaining elasticity.
